Notice of Commencement of Period for the Exercise of Public Rights

 

Grant Thornton UK LLP has been appointed by the Audit Commission (now Public Sector Audit Appointments Ltd) to carry out a Limited Assurance review of the Annual Governance Statement and the Accounting Statements of Brindley Heath Parish Council for the year ended 31 March 2017.

Brindley Heath Parish Council is required by The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 to:

Complete the Annual Return after 31 March 2017 as set out in 'Governance and Accountability for Smaller Authorities in England (the Practitioners Guide)' published by the Joint Practitioners Advisory Group (JPAG) in the form requested by proper practices. This comprises the:

  • Annual Governance Statement (Section 1 of the Annual Return);

  • Accounting Statements (Section 2 of the Annual Return);

  • External Auditors Report and Certificate (Section 3 of the Annual Return) and

  • Annual Internal Audit Report for the year ended 31 March 2017.

Any person interested has the opportunity to inspect and make copies of the Annual Return and all books, deeds, cocts, bills, vouchers and receipts etc. relating to them. For the year ended 31 March 2016 these documents will be available on reasonable notice on application to the person in paragraph 3 below. 

Local Government Electors and their representatives have rights to:

  • Question the auditor about the accounts, and

  • Object to the accounts or any item in them. Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and an copy sent to the Parish Council.
